Introductory Beekeeping Workshop
2024- June -2nd, 2024 - (Classroom and "Hands-On" sessions in the bee yard).
Beekeeping has a steep learning curve. Usually, the first year is the most daunting, with so many decisions that have to be made, some even before you get bees.
Students will learn budget, equipment needed, management techniques, record keeping, bee yard location, honey production, how do I get started, seasonal management, time and energy that keeping bees requires, benefits of beekeeping, obtaining bees-permit-inspected by a provincial bee inspector.
This course will outline some of the main challenges that are likely to come up and give you a starting point for planning and research.

An Introduction to Honey Bee Pests and Diseases in Ontario
(What Integrated Pest Management Means for Today’s Beekeeper)
This course is designed to teach beekeepers to effectively manage pests and diseases to maintain healthy colonies.
This workshop includes classroom and hands on in the beeyard. Please bring your safety equipment - will be supplied if necessary.
Beekeepers will learn multiple tactics to reduce pest populations' using multiple tools to find the most effective, least intrusive solutions to problems.
Learn to identify, prevent, and manage.

- Viruses
- Signs of poor health

Students acquire the knowledge that guides them for the coming beekeeping season.
